I just purchased a designjet printer. The belt was broken. I replaced the belt only because the tensioner seemed intact. It would malfunction once the carriage moved at speed during initialization at first. I added a piece of rubber to the tensioner that someone recommended and it stopped malfunctioning during initialization but once it runs through the setup phase the timer runs down from 7 minutes to almost nothing and then once the carraige moves at speed again it clacks and stutters and then malfunctions. It says it will reboot and try to find the problem. It checks for paper jam doesn’t find one then once it moves at speed again it will do the stutter thing again and the screen will glitch out pixelated and here we are. I also replaced the encoder strip and it seems to run smoother since I did. It sounds like a slap or clack intermittently during the startup phase too. Please help

Did you clean and lubricate the carriage rod with the recommended lubricant? Have you run onboard diagnostic tests to try and isolate the cause? I would recommend you replace the tensioner to eliminate that as a possible cause. The issues with the display could be a sign of failing electronics which onboard diagnostics can be used to determine condition of components.
