Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I see that a number of users are experiencing varied problems after installing the Windows 10 upgrade driver on older equipment.  I am one of those.  I now get error 79:04 each time a file is sent to the unit (which states "No Power" - not the case) and the process stops.  Have not been able to plot a single sheet since the install.  Not sure weather to attempt a rollback or what.  My intent was to convert the DJ from a single computer plotter to a network plotter.

Hope someone can help.

Sorry I didn't update the issue when I found the answer.  The W7 driver didn't work at first, but I went back & shut computer & plotter down, started plotter, then started computer & it worked OK & seems to be good since.

Thanks much for your help.

Hi,

If you want to have the printer connected to the network, the best is to install a Jetdirect card and connect the printer dirrectly to the network.

About the 79:04.

Do you get the error if you try doing an internal print, like the informaton pages?

If you dont, try installing the following driver

HP DesignJet 500 24-in Roll Printer

Mike:  Thanks for the help.  Unfortunately no change in the result.  Process went slightly farther this time - advanced the sheet 1-inch before "79:04".  Any other options?  The previous driver worked OK - I responded to an annoying "updates available" box in Acad.  Did I lose the old driver?  Or - better question - was the one I just installed from the link the previous W7 standard driver or some modification?  Anyway, if there are other things to try, let me know.

I neglected to note that an internan test plot worked OK.

Hi,

If internals work, I will not see a hardware issue.

Try deleting the printer completely from:

- Devices and printer

- Server properties

- Registry

Then install the driver I shared with you.

If you are connecting the printer to the computer via USB, do the following:

1- Install the printer manualy using the LPT port

2- Connect the USB cable for the printer to the computer. At this step Windows will install the printer using the "Best driver" as per OS. Look at the port used by the OS to install the printer

3- At the driver you installed, changed the port to the one used by the OS

4- Delete the printer installed by the OS.

Please let us know if that works, dont miss any step or you will go back to step one.

Best regards
