Designjet T830

Hi,

I have a DesignJet T830. When the printer is turned on, during the startup that takes a minutes or too, the paper is advanced from the roll by say 20cm, and left hanging out the front of the printer. The first print of the day then has an extra 20cm of paper at the head. Can't understand why this is happening. Can anyone help?

Thanks is anticipation.

It is possible that the OOPS sensor is not functioning properly, but this can also be cause by the sensor that is mounted to the printer carriage being contaminated with ink. In the past I have seen some print head leakage on this model and this results in the sensor wiper brush becoming polluted with ink that jams the sensor. That sensor is mounted on the left side of the print head carrier. If you open the right door and look inside you can easily see if there is excess ink on the service station. If it is too bad you may need to replace the service station and you will need to replace the print head if it is leaking.
