After replacing a bad HD on the formatted of our Z5600 I had to download and install updated firmware to the plotter. This went without a hitch. As part of the firmware upgrade the software started setting up the plotter. It got to the point where it was configuring the plotter to send usage information to HP. When it got to “internet connectivity” we ran into a problem. I contacted my network support who informed me that our network doesn’t allow printers to connect and talk to the internet. How do I back up the install process and avoid this rabbit hole? The network support told me the plotter is visible on our network so users can send plots to it.

The process of supplying usage data is completely voluntary and you can opt out and tell the printer not to during the setup process. If it seems stuck at this point, in your shoes, I would just turn the plotter off and then on again which should trigger it to go through the setup process again.
