hp DesignJet 500
Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)

General question... I'm looking at purchasing a slightly used designjet 500 and can not see in the product features if it's both a printer and cutter.  Can anyone tell me if the designjet 500, 24 inch printer provides plotting features for making signs or conrour cuts?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

Hello Ken,

Designjet 500 has the ability to cut paper/media in a straight line (at the end of print job, to cut/separate media from roll at the end of print job), but I do not think that this option is suitable for your requirement.

I don't believe the 500 has any cutting capabilities.

Not sure if any Designjet models have that feature, AFAIK.  Might want to do a search on this site.

Hi,

Please noted the information. Each and every printer have treir own cutter unit with the printer and their options cutter on/off  mode. You may check the settings in the front panel and printer preference ettings.

Thanks,

The question was whether or not the designjet 500 will make contour cuts, which it does not.  My answer applied to that part of the question, not whether or not it will cut the paper at the end of a printout, which it will.

Hope that clarifies.

Hi,

Yes, Printer will cut the paper at the end of a printout and if you want you manually cut the paper on command basis (Through control panel cutter unit button).

Total process will depends on your print command settings.

Thanks,
Rashed

No contour cuts, it will only cut the paper to the specified length at the finish of the print job. The exception is canvas print material, which it cannot cut at all.
