HP DesignJet 500-24
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The company I work for has a DesignJet 500-24. The problem I'm having is that flake of dry ink have collected on the frame above the print bed. When I run a print job, the flakes fall onto the paper prior to the ink being applied, so that they get sprayed instead of the paper, creating inconsistencies. What is the best way to clean the flakes from the frame (they are underneath the belt that moves the ink cartridges), and perhaps prevent them from accumulating? Thank you.

Best regards,

Jeff Smith

This is likely normal, but at the age of the printer, if it has never been properly maintained, this has built up to be a problem. You need to clean as excess ink from the interior of the printer. Best cleaning is plain water on lint free cloth and Q-tips for getting into the smaller crevices. Remove all the print heads and clean around the bottom of the carriage as well. If there are lots of dried flakes, a grounded service vacuum can be useful to clean up before hand.

Thank you, I'll give that a try.
