My HP DesignJet T100 fails to load the paper roll.  It states, "Media Load Failure" and "Printer cannot detect paper."  Any ideas on how to fix?  I have tried several times rebooting the printer, loaded new paper, etc.

Try to load a single cut sheet to see if that works. If that method fails as well then it is quite possible that your oops sensor (out of paper sensor) has failed or is jammed. It is located in the paper path on the right side (if you are facing front of printer) close to the edge of the paper path. You can see it easier by going to the back of the machine and removing the cut sheet feeder.

Part number for the sensor is CQ890-67032

I removed the multi sheet paper tray to start looking for the out of paper sensor and the roll loaded.  Not sure why but the printer now detected the roll and is printing fine.

Thanks for the help
