I bought a new HP DesignJet T230 printer. After making a few prints, I noticed strong horizontal lines.
Here’s what I’ve already done:

Printhead cleaning

Error check

Printed several different files for comparison

It’s important to note that this issue only appears on wide-format prints (600 mm).
A4 prints look perfectly fine.
What should I do?

@fancyshop, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP DesignJet T230 printer.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

When experiencing horizontal lines across your prints, commonly referred to as "banding," it may indicate an issue with print settings, printheads alignment, or the printhead's condition. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Check Paper and Settings:

    • Ensure that the paper type you are using matches the settings on your printer. You can do this by accessing the paper settings on the printer's front panel or through your print software settings.
  2. Print Quality Settings:

    • Adjust your print-quality settings. If you have set the printer for speed over quality, switching to a higher quality setting may resolve the issue. For example, choose 'Quality' over 'Speed'. Also, confirm that you are using the correct print-quality level for your print needs (such as selecting 'Quality' if it was set to 'Speed').
  3. Perform Image Diagnostics:

    • Image Diagnostics Print tool on your printer helps highlight printhead issues. This test checks if all nozzles are firing correctly. To perform this:
      1. Load the appropriate paper type.
      2. Navigate to the printer's maintenance menu and select the option to print an Image Diagnostics Print. This will help you identify if there is a specific printhead causing the issue.
  4. Align and Clean Printheads:

    • Use the printer's built-in alignment tool to ensure that the printheads are properly aligned. Misaligned printheads can cause banding. Similarly, clean the printheads if the diagnostic indicates blockages.
  5. Inspect Environmental Conditions:

    • Ensure that environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity are within recommended ranges, as extremes can affect print quality

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
