HP DesignJet T7100
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I have an HP DesignJet T7100 printer, as it gets "ready" for paper it gives a system error code 40:03 upon loading either Roll 1 or 2 i.e, I select the Load Roll 1, then align it with the blue line, after closing the Smart Roll Cover it immediately displays 40:03 error code. I tried to restart it multiple times-same behavior.

I can see no visible obstacles restricting the Smart Roll movement.

I replaced the Smart Roll-loading System Motor to no avail. Also checked the Smart Roll-loading System Gears, they are all intact.

Thanks for any input that may be of any help.

Not sure if you looked at the service manual but they state that the majority of times this error is either the motor and gears you already replaced or the back door causing excess friction, in which case that would be the next item to replace.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Just a quick question: Prior to replacing the Rear Door (Cleanout Door),  is it possible to lube the gears or any related part of the Rear Door so that i can eliminate excess friction?

Thanks indeed.
