HP DesignTet T1700 dr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our HP DesignJet T1700 dr plotter prints pages upside down or mirrored when using HP Click. The plotter's firmware is up to date and the HP Click programme has also been updated. Printing directly from the corresponding programme using this plotter works perfectly. This means that the settings on the plotter should be correct. Printing using HP Click on a plotter of the same type in the same network also works.

Does anyone have any ideas where the problem might lie or what adjustments could be made?

Welcome to HP Support Community, @KnutInger

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

1. Reset HP Click Printer Settings

HP Click saves printer-specific orientation settings that can become corrupted.

Steps:

Open HP Click

Go to Printers

Select the problematic T1700 → Remove Printer

Close HP Click completely

Reopen HP Click and add the printer again by IP address

This resets all stored orientation/mirroring preferences.

2. Check Orientation and Rotate Settings in HP Click

HP Click can automatically rotate jobs to save paper.

In HP Click → Printer Settings:

Orientation → Set to Automatic

Rotate 180° → OFF

Mirror/Flip Horizontal → OFF

Rotate to Save Paper → OFF (Common cause of unexpected rotation)

3. Clear HP Click Cache

Even after updates, old settings can remain in the cache.

Windows path to clear:

C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\HP\HP Click\

Delete all files in this folder → restart HP Click → add printer again.

4. Check Windows Print Queue Preferences

HP Click partially relies on the Windows queue.
If that queue has rotation/mirroring enabled, Click inherits it.

Steps:

Control Panel → Devices and Printers

Right-click the T1700 → Printing Preferences

Verify:

Orientation = Portrait or Landscape

“Rotate 180°” = OFF

“Mirror Print” = OFF

Apply → OK

Restart HP Click afterwards.

5. Reset HPGL/2 Settings on the T1700

Rare, but possible if only Click output is wrong.

On Printer Control Panel:

Settings → Printing → HPGL/2

Disable:

Rotate

Mirror

Select Restore Defaults

Restart the plotter.

6. Look at HP Click Preview

This helps identify where the problem starts.

If preview is rotated/mirrored → HP Click settings or cache is the issue.

If preview is normal but print is wrong → Windows queue or printer HPGL/2 settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
