Hi I purchased a used plotter HP T1700 and get an printhead error on 1 (grey/black) cartridge. It tells me to reseat the HP731 printhead and reinstall. I have tried this a few times being very careful on the reinstall of the printhead with no avail.  I purchased a new printhead and tried that but also no luck.

On the startup of the printer I also noticed that two of the ink cartridges have expired with still 50% capacity and wondering if they will need two be replaced  right away or is this an flag that quality will be lowered due to this.

I reset the printer and the firmware has been upgraded also. Have read that the carriage assembly PCA could be at fault and will require replacing.

Any help on this type of Deskjet Design T1700 would be appreciated.

Thanks

This issue is most commonly caused by a build up of ink on the left wiper. Open fhd window and look in the left side and you will see the waste ink station. Clean off any build up and then reinsert the printhead.

Left wiper is clear no issues there. I suspect Carriage PCA needs replacing.
