After a weekend, the printer has a Missing Ink Cartridge error for M, LM & PK, cartridges have plenty of ink & I replaced the Magenta, but still get the error.  those cartridges are all next to each other. We had thunder storms this weekend, so I'm wondering if something got fried. any help with this is much appreciated.

Thank You

Hello @DanoVH2, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

We request that you please perform a few troubleshooting steps and check if it can help in fixing the issue.

  1. Power-cycle the printer - Turn the printer off using the Power button. - Unplug the power cord from the wall. - Wait at least 60 seconds. - Plug it back in and turn the printer on. - Check if the error clears.

  2. Re-seat the indicated cartridges (M, LM, PK) - Open the cartridge access door. - Remove each of the cartridges the printer reports as missing/damaged. - Inspect the cartridge for visible damage. - Firmly reinstall each cartridge until it is fully seated. - Close the door and see if the error persists.

  3. Replace the indicated cartridge - If the printer still reports a specific cartridge (e.g., Magenta, Light Magenta, or Photo Black) as missing/damaged, replace that exact cartridge with another one (preferably a new, genuine HP supply). - Install it and check for the error again.

Have a great day!

Thank you for your response, but we figured it out.

We noticed if we put pressure on the ink cartridges they appeared loaded on the panel, so I took the side cover off & there was a clip that locks in the ink station that was broken off, I got some wire straps & secured the ink station in place, now it works fine.

Hello @DanoVH2, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for coming back and sharing the solution.

We are glad to hear you were able to identify the root cause. The behavior you described, where applying pressure to the affected ink cartridges temporarily allowed them to be detected, was a strong indication that the issue was related to the physical seating or locking mechanism of the ink supply station rather than the cartridges themselves.

It is helpful to know that the retaining clip securing the ink station had broken, preventing consistent contact with the M, LM, and PK cartridges. Securing the ink station in place restored proper cartridge detection and resolved the Missing Ink Cartridge error.

Thank you for taking the time to update the Community with your findings. This information may be very helpful to other HP DesignJet Z6200 users who encounter similar cartridge detection issues after ruling out cartridge replacement and standard troubleshooting.

We're pleased to hear your printer is working again

Have a great day!
