HP DesignJet T930 36-in Printer

Hello,

We have an HP DesignJet T930, and it no longer allows access to the web interface.
I would like to perform an EEPROM reset in the hope that the web server will start again.
Restarting the device hasn’t helped.
The device can be pinged, and I can still print, but certain functions in the software are grayed out because the printer status is missing.

Hi @SkyReflex,

If your HP DesignJet T930 is not allowing access to the web interface, performing an EEPROM reset can sometimes help resolve underlying issues with the printer's settings or configurations. Here's how you can attempt to perform an EEPROM reset on your HP DesignJet T930:

Important Note:

Performing an EEPROM reset will clear some settings and may return the printer to a default state. Ensure you have recorded any custom configurations or settings that you may need to restore after the reset.

Steps to Perform EEPROM Reset:

  1. Turn Off the Printer:

    • Press the power button to turn off the printer, and then unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Access the Service Menu:

    • While the printer is off, press and hold the Power button and the Cancel button simultaneously.
    • Continue holding these buttons while you plug the power cord back into the outlet.
  3. Enter Service Menu:

    • Release the buttons once the printer starts and initializes.
    • Accessing the hidden service menu can vary, but often involves key combinations specific to your model. Check your service manual or consult HP support for exact instructions if needed.
  4. Perform EEPROM Reset:

    • Within the service menu, look for options related to “Restore Defaults” or “EEPROM reset.” This option might be listed under settings related to resets or device maintenance.
    • Select the appropriate option to initiate the reset process.
  5. Finalize and Restart Printer:

    • After the EEPROM reset is complete, restart your printer to initialize it with default settings.
    • Check whether you can now access the web interface.

If you're able to access the printer’s interface after doing this, it's crucial to update the firmware to the latest version using the newly available web interface.

Hello, and thank you for your reply. Are you sure that this guide is correct? My printer doesn’t have a real “Cancel” button. Everything is controlled via the touchscreen, except for the power button. When I turn off the printer and hold the power button while plugging it back into the power outlet, it doesn’t start up. Instead, it seems to go into sleep mode, and the LED on the power button starts pulsing.

Even if I place my finger on the “Cancel” touch button and hold down the power button before turning the power back on, nothing happens — except that the LED starts pulsing.

Hi @SkyReflex,

I am really sorry to hear that the issue still persists, please try the below steps for the issue.

An EEPROM reset is not supported or user accessible on the HP DesignJet T930, and attempting to perform one can permanently damage the formatter or network card.

What you’re describing is a known symptom of the Embedded Web Server (EWS) service not responding, even though basic network connectivity and printing still work.

Since the printer can be pinged and prints correctly, the issue is typically caused by:

  • Corrupted firmware components
  • Embedded Web Server service failure
  • Network or security settings blocking HTTP or HTTPS access

Recommended steps in order:

  1. Update or reinstall the firmware
    • Download the latest firmware for the T930 from HP’s official Drivers and Software page
    • Reinstall the firmware even if the version appears unchanged
    • This often restores the web interface and missing status reporting
  2. Verify network and EWS settings
    • Ensure HTTP and HTTPS are enabled from the front panel (if accessible)
    • Check that no firewall or proxy is blocking ports 80 or 443
  3. Power reset
    • Power off the printer
    • Disconnect the power cable for at least 60 seconds
    • Reconnect and power on

If the Embedded Web Server does not return after firmware reinstallation, the issue is hardware or formatter related.

At that point, the next step is to contact an authorized HP service center, as formatter replacement or service mode intervention may be required. This cannot be resolved through software alone.
