Is there a way to manually set the roll length?

Loaded a new 300 foot roll of paper expecting the printer to ask for the roll length but it didn't so the length is unknown.  BTW this is our first time in loading a new out-of-the box roll for this printer.  BTW2 Yes, this is original HP paper C6810A

Attempted to correct by setting:

But I still do not see anywhere to set the roll length, so turned off "Enable printing paper info"

Printer has the latest firmware:

Firmware version: CH_06_06_00.1

Any help is appreciated - thank you.

Enabling Printer Paper Info should be set before loading a roll.

Your Printer printed the info that it knew, but not the length because that was not previously stated on the first time loading.

Cut off the Barcode manually, reload the roll (using front panel and with Info enabled)

During the process the printer should ask for the paper type and then for the length.

Hi,

During the loading process at the first time, the printer asks for the media lenght only if you select *load roll* in order  to follow the prompts from the touch panel. Since you are loading a 300 inch roll, depending on the media type you are loading this lenght will not be listed, by hence you will have to select custom by scrolling down to the bottom to manaully insert the value.

Assuming that you already enable *printing paper info* the unit will track the information to print the barcode and text with the remaining paper lengh once you select from the paper menu the unload option.

Afterwards if you try to load the paper again * by selecting the load paper option from the menu * the unit will not required for the media lenght because it will read the barcode printed in the leading edge last time you manually selected the option for unload roll. Actually the barcode will include not only the bars but also the remaining media leght in inches and mm.

Again, you have to keep in mind  that the option is expected to work if the loading and unlaoding process started from the front panel's paper menu.

By the way, if want to see the media lenght remaing, you can also access the web interface of the unit by typing the IP address on the web browser in your computer, the first section shows up the media loaded along with the remaining media leght.

Thanks Chris.

Unloaded & Reloaded the roll as described but "Custom" is not an available paper option.

I'm also familiar with the printers web interface and seeing the "Paper Usage" value.  I know the value before loading the new 300 foot roll, so I'll just have to monitor it.

UPDATE: Looking closer at the paper usage value it shows "feet squared" not length - a simple calculation, but important to remember :Surprise:
