HP DesignJet T2530

The printer/scanner stated showing a 79:04 error. After rebooting as part of the troubleshooting process from HP's website, the error presisted and then the printer went into a print job loop. When the print queue is opened there's a print job from HP that is continuely incrementing every 3mins. You cannot delete, cancel or stop the incrementation. While the job never prints,  you cannot direct any job to the printer. The troubleshoot process stated that in the event of the forementioned error, to contact HP support. This device is out of warranty and we'd like to investigate the feasability of purchasing a one-time onsite support visit. We are apart of the Joint Cheifs of Staff located in Suffolk Virginia. Here's a link to the Service Manual:

The error shows up when the printer thinks it's a toaster.  Good news is it can be a pretty easy fix by resetting the EEROM, which will clear all files and return all settings to factory settings.  Usually on a 79:04 error, you'll want to check for updating your firmware also but trying the EEROM reset is a good first step.  Here's what the manual says:

EEROM Reset Utility
The EEROM Reset test resets the product to the factory defaults and delete any user information/files.
1. In the Diagnostics menu, scroll to EEROM and press on this menu option.
2. The EEROM Reset test starts and the Front Panel asks whether you want to continue.
3. Press OK to continue the test or Cancel to cancel it.
4. The EEROM Reset test continues and the Front Panel displays the following message:
● Initializing
● Setting default conƭiguration
5. The Front Panel prompts you to shut down the product to complete the test.
6. Press OK to shut down the product.

Read up on the service manual about how to get to the diagnostics/utility menu first.  Time and patience is a must.  It will probably wipe out any files you have inside the printer from past printing.  I don't know of any other way to get it out of the loop it's in but maybe someone has another solution that will save any files you have on the hard drive.

If you still want a tech to come out there should be several in your area.  Google should help find one easily.  (I don't work for HP; I just work on their printers.)

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.
