Hello.
My HP DesignJet T1700 plotter, as far as I understand, does not support PostScript.
I use Linux as an operating system with HPLIP 3.21.8. HPLIP has declared printer support: HP DesignJet T1700 PostScript and HP DesignJet T1700dr PostScript.
When using these drivers on the front panel of the printer, I get a file format error.
Do I understand correctly that HPLIP only works with T1700 PostScript printers?
What can be done in this situation?

If you use a Post Script driver on a non-post script printer you'll always get that error message.
Same if you use a non-Post script driver on a Post Script printer.
Anyway, that's been my experience over the years.
As far as what can be done about it, you could investigate upgrading the printer to a Post Script printer using a program from HP. Sort of pricey though, IMO. You might check Ebay for upgrade kits.
