I'm getting a persistent 22:10 system error on my DesignJet 500ps plotter. I'd recently installed an LPS ink modification chip. After install the machine printed one good plot, but when the second plot was starting the drive advanced slightly and then threw up the error code. I removed the mod chip and tried again - same result. I ran the ISS service test - same result. I ordered a new ISS and installed it - same result both with and without the mod chip.
Anyone have any thoughts? I've kept this machine running for 25 plus years, but I'm close to throwing in the towel.

Have you contacted LPS? As the error seems to have been triggered by the addition of their mod chip I would ask them for assistance.

Yes - I thought the same thing so the first thing I did was reach put to them. They were the ones who suggested I try to run the machine w/o the mod chip to see if the problem persisted. Here is their response:
"Go ahead and power the machine on with no cartridges installed. If the error appears, unplug the mod chip, and insert the ISS connectors back to the original configuration. Boot the machine in this condition with no cartridges installed, then while the printer is powered on and in a ready state, unplug the blue ISS cable, and reinstall the modchip. See if the issue persists."
The problem did persist. I had a few additional back and forth emails with them, but it became pretty clear they weren't too invested in my problem.
One thing I should mention is I had to modify the connector on the cable they provided with the mod chip to get it to seat on the controller board. A pain but I believe I got a good connection as evidenced by the one good plot I was able to generate before the error appeared.
I have the option of returning the mod chip and new ISS for a partial refund, but I figured I should reach out to the HP community first in a last ditch attempt to fix the problem, because I'm stuck.
