I have tried several solutions to resolve this error and none have resolved it. This ink cartridge has a genuine HP water mark and expires on 12/2026. Please see photos of error messages on printer.  I have unplugged power cord,  cleaned print connectors? (sorry forgot exact term), unplugged power cord and lifted ink carriage up slightly and moved L to R and powered back on. I have also tried another black ink cartridge with same error message never being resolved. IMG_8368.jpgIMG_8369.jpg

Hi @MC3T,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for sharing the photos; they help a lot. The error “Supply System Problem”, combined with the black cartridge showing an error icon, means the printer cannot properly detect or communicate with the ink supply system. Since you’ve already tried reseating and cleaning, here’s the troubleshooting path:

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power on.

2. Remove and Inspect Cartridges

  • Open the ink access door.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Check for protective tape on the cartridge nozzles (sometimes overlooked).
  • Inspect contacts for ink buildup or scratches.

3. Clean Electrical Contacts

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean:
    • The gold contacts on the cartridge.
    • The contacts inside the carriage.
  • Let them dry for 5 minutes before reinserting.

4. Reinstall Cartridges

  • Insert cartridges firmly until they click.
  • Close the door and check the display.

5. Update Firmware

  • Go to HP SupportOfficial HP® Support
  • Install the latest firmware (sometimes fixes supply system errors).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Most common issue we run into with this is a leaking printhead. Remove the black ink cartridge and examine the cavity closely. If you see ink inside that is likely the problem and the only solution is to replace the printhead. The leak causes the system to not be able to pressure the printhead properly, thus kicking out that error.
