Designjet T2500
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello everybody, new user here. I'm a draftsman and work by myself. Where I live there really is not that much support from HP (actually more like none at all) It's just a fact of life.

I have a Designjet T2500 which I use quite a bit. It has been mostly trouble free until recently, when it started misbehaving. Mostly increased frequency of cleaning cycles on startup (the one that is several stages). I suspect that those cycles were not being completed because the printer tried again on the next startup. Some time went by, and now the printhead alignment routine produces an error and does not finish. Consulting the service manual I ran the line sensor test, and it shows error 55:11 and does not finish. The carriage test produces the same result: 55:11 and end of test.

This error code is not listed anywhere that i can find, so I don't know what it means.

The closest error I see is 55:10 which means line sensor EEPROM error (which sounds about right).

Followed the suggestions  in the manual (reboot, unplug power, boot up again) with no change.

I cleaned the carriage encoder strip with moist rag (some dirt did come out) but no change.

I ordered a new line sensor, which came with its cable, replaced them both... and no change.

The next step suggested in the manual is to change the carriage pca, but it comes quite pricey so I'm checking here before I do that.

Things to note.

Firmware is updated.

When I had the carriage pca out, i cleaned the encoder sensor on it, and quite a lot of dirt came out... although still  no change. The problem remains.

The service station end of life prompt appeared some time before this, i don't know if its related. I reset the counters and carried on as I didn't have the cash to replace it a the time (oops sorry for that, I know its the wrong way to go).

Any suggestions before I order a new carriage pca?

Thanks

Juan

Checking my resources shows no reference to the 55.11 error. In a case like this I would have to contact Technical Support and I suggest if no other users here respond that is what you are going to have to do.

Well... I can confirm that changing neither the line sensor nor the carriage pca fixes this issue. Anyone having the same problem may want to consider skipping those steps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I understand that the situation calls for contacting Hp service support. Unfortunately there's no such thing where I live. I'm pretty much on my own on this one.
