Then it is not detecting the new printhead.

Have you cleaned the printhead contacts in the carriage?

Yes I cleaned the printhead contacts and it keeps doing the same thing.

Then either you have a defective spare print had or the board in the carriage has failed.

Did the original printhead have the same problem as the replacment printhead?

I believe those printheads are keyed to keep you from installing them in the wrong slot so you won't get ink cross contamination.

If the original print head is still around you could possibly break-off the plastic tabs and try it in another slot and see if it is reported defective there.

There is only one printhead on this T2530 unit. I have two new printheads and neither one works. I tried putting the old one back in but had same issue.

It seems to detect the printhead but replies asking me to insert "new" printhead

I should have remembered that but I'm so used to there being separate print heads in just about every other model I work on.

Have you tried removing the printhead, turning off the machine with the power switch on the back, waiting a bit and then turning it back on and inserting the print head when it asks for it?

Yes I have. My son and I have been looking into this issue and are on the way to solving this problem. Lots of issues with this series of printer. Will post solution very soon to share with this community.
