There's a scraping noise coming from a brand new printer. We've printed about 20-30 pages, then all of a sudden it started making a horrible noise, but still continues to print just fine. I found that its 2 metal spring clips on the ribbon that are scraping as the printhead goes passed them. One of the clips broke while I was watching the printhead move to see what the noise is. But even though its broken, it still prints just fine except for a horrible scraping noise as it prints. Is this something thats important? Has anyone seen this problem before and is it expensive/tough to fix or can I fix it myself?

My own solution: redneck fix! Wrapped the hell out of it with electrical tape so the broken metal spring doesn't puncture through the ribbon cable and called it good. That also holds down the spring clips so they don't scrape on the printhead. No more noise and printed another 30 pages today without issue. Not even sure what the hell those clips are supposed to do, weird design by HP. I won't be recomending them to my company anymore considering this was a brand new printer.
