T830 printer, brought new, 2.5 years old. Only 1477 pages printed. Print head leaking very badly, pool of ink inside the machine. Other colours affected, for example yellow printing orange.

HP say replace the print head at our cost.

Anyone else with this problem?

Yes I have seen this with a couple of clients. Keep in mind that there are a couple of things to look for as the ink can lead to failure of other parts of the plotter. Look at the picture below. Pay careful note to the brush that is highlighted. If that brush  is saturated with ink it will transfer that ink to the line sensor and result in printer not loading paper. I have had little success cleaning the brush but the best advice I can give is if you are going to try you should brush up from base to top of brush to keep from crushing the fibers. If you cannot clean it you will need to replace the service station as well. Make sure to clean the line sensor while you have the service station out as it is easier to get to.
