I have two Designjet 130 printers. They both work fine with XP/Vista/Windows 7. They do not work with 10.
I have spent 20 hours trying to get these things working with no luck. I have tried TWO different machines running windows 10 to no avail. These printers run via a USB connection.
I can install them, make them the default printer, and, PRINT THE TEST page! I can also print from the HP Scan DR who assures me that everything is fine. However, when I go to a program such as Note Pad, they will not print. Note Pad returns an error "The Handle is Invalid". I have tried researching this message, but it leads to much greater minds than I can fathom.
My machine is an Intel 5960X processor, 32 GB of memory, and an Asus x99 Deluxe motherboard.
I have tried running the HP install software in all different kinds of compatible modes with no luck.
I am out of ideas, other than rolling back my software to 7, which I really dont want to do.
Thanks in advance.

Ok. I have finally resolved this problem. I went back to the HP site and ONCE AGAIN downloaded the Designjet 130 driver.
The driver download on Dec30, 1:34 pm had a file size of 2,652KB
The driver today at 11.53am has a file size of 3099KB.
Perhaps they (HP) fixed it.
Perhaps my original download was corrupted.
Very simply:
Connect your printer. Windows will find it and will automatically install the USB printing option for it and a device driver. That driver will not work, however, you may end up being able to print a test page. This ultimately will still be a false confirmation. The version 7.00 driver is for Vista, Windows 7, and 8. It will not work in compatibility mode either.
Proceed:
Go to Devices and Printers.
A series of beautiful graphical icons opens.
Double click your printer.
Double click on "Customize your printer"
Go to the About Tab.
Check your installed Printer driver version
Windows 10 will install v7.00 by default and will keep telling you that it has the best version
available. DON'T believe that.
The Hewlett Packard Scan DR software will tell you the same thing.
DON'T believe that either.
You will want version 8.10. It is available on the HP website in 32 bit and 64 bit versions. Download it. I unzipped it to a folder on my Desktop.
Now, go to the Device Manager.
Scroll to "Printers". Click.
Right click on your printer.
Click "Update Driver Software"
Do not click the first default option.
Do click "Browse my computer for driver software"
Click "Search for driver software in this location"-specify the folder on your desktop and check "include Subfolders"
Click browse. The software will do a satisfying update.
Go back to the "Devices and Printers" folder and the "Customize your printer" option.
Double click. Navigate back to the "About" tab and confirm that driver version 8.10 is installed.
Close out of everything and print something.
Just to check myself, I have printed out my second document to confirm any nagging doubt.
Confirmed printing. Happy New Year to me and anyone else reading this.
