HP DesignJet T630 24-in Printer

I have a lot of trouble with my T630 designjet. The latest problem happened when an ink cartridge ran out. It was in the middle of printing out an A1 doc.  I had to replace 2 cartridges (original HP ) When I closed the hatch nothing happened?

I waited and waited. Unawares to me there was a message on the printer's LCD screen that an error had happened, and to

contact HP support. What on a Sunday evening at 9pm, and I have a deadine to keep! I Itried to switch off the printer, but no go there. No joy either tring to reprint the doc. from my PC. In the end I pulled out the mains plug. Waited for 10mins and put it back in again. When the printer finally got back on it's feet it spat out the doc. half printed. Feeding in a new sheet all appeared to be okay. Except there was a message on the LCD screen saying "Don't disconnect the printer by pulling out the plug, doing so can cause damage, turn off at the switch first"  Okay so what damage can be caused by pulling out the plug?

Like suppose there was an unexpected power failure (an identica scenario). Surely that has to be taken into account, and not present with a message saying "damage can happen" blah...blah.. It appears to be working okay after it's hissy fit!
