I have a HP XL 3800 that keeps throwing error code e7.6c.73.82

It says to restart and we do that and it works for awhile and then it happens again. Any thoughts?

Hello MargieLLE,

Thank you for posting your concern,

HP DesignJet XL 3800 - Error Code E7.6C.73.82

The error code E7.6C.73.82 on the HP DesignJet XL 3800 typically suggests an internal issue with the printer that may require support intervention. Here are some general steps you can take to try and resolve or better understand the error before contacting support:

General Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Restart the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer using the power button.
    • Unplug the printer from the power source.
    • Wait for approximately 60 seconds.
    • Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
  2. Check for Obstructions:

    • Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper path.
    • Open the cartridge access door and make sure that the print carriage moves freely.
  3. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Ensure that the printer firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates via the Embedded Web Server (EWS) or HP's official website.
  4. Review Error Code Documentation:

    • Consult the user guide or the service manual for any additional information on specific error codes. These documents often provide insights into what a specific error code might indicate.
  5. Reset the Printer:

    • Perform a soft reset of the printer settings from the control panel or the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  6. Check Network Connections:

    • Ensure the printer is properly connected to the network if it's being used in a networked environment.

Additional Support:

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact HP Support for further assistance. Have the error code and any steps you have already taken handy to expedite support and diagnostics.

For more detailed technical intervention, trained HP technicians can provide guidance or on-site support if necessary.
