At the printer's front panel, press the Information icon, then press the wrench icon , then select "Image-quality maintenance > Print diagnostic image".
It takes about two minutes to print the Image Diagnostics Print.
This should tell you if you have any printheads that aren't performing correctly.
You can download a user manual from the HP website. This will help you isolate the problem.
I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.
