HP DesignJet Z9+ 44-in PostScript Printer

Hi all,

I've just returned home after moving abroad to care for my mother. My designJet z9+ has been used three times since purchasing brand new, initially had a fault during setup/startup to which all print heads were replaced by Hp. During that process where representative was at my home installing new heads and doing setup, printhead1 faulted twice then worked 3 times (printing 3 factory installed images) printer has had no use since then. What would the suggested process to check/do before powering up/its self checks? Print heads, ink cartridges/lines etc etc ? Thank you, sincerely

If properly powered off so the printheads were parked in the service station, I would simply power up and see what you get. From there, if there are colors missing your first step will be printhead cleanings anyway. I would resist the urge to manually clean or wipe the printheads as it is too easy to throw something off. Manual cleaning should be a course of last resort.

Thanks for your reply, as for if properly powered off I can't exactly be sure about that other than going through the power down process via touch screen. So no inspection or removal of printheads/cartridges is suggested first? Simply power up and see what happens

Proper shutdown, yes turning it off, not just yanking the cable out of the wall. My personal view is that unnecessary handling or removal of supplies just introduces the opportunity to create other issues. Printers these days have a raft of fail safes built in, so your chance of damage is greater by removing supplies than by just trying it. Had the printer been submerged in water after a flood I would probably give you a different answer.
