I am trying to remove the stand from my plotter but do not have the original assembly tool, can anyonr tell me what the screw head is please, it looks like some kind of star drive.

It's a torx head screw.  Size T-25 is the size most stands are assembled with.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

Thanks buddy, I would have bought star drives next and probably given up before I went to TORX

 

Worth nothing these days put it on FB marketplace and all I could get for it was £40!

Depending on the age that is true. I think part of the reason is that most owners only get rid of plotters when they start acting up or require an expensive service kit. As many sellers are not forthright about these things, buyers tend to be very cautious as repairs can easily exceed the price of replacement.
