DesignJet 1055CM: My plotter is fairly old, but was working fine on Friday when I turned it off for the long weekend. Now, when I turn it on the following message is displayed in the informational window: "Switch power off Check printhead CLEANER path", but it doesn't tell me how to accomplish those instructions. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

when this happens, it's usually a carriage to service station issue. after you get this error on the screen, you have no choice but to power down and restart . at the end of initialization process is where this usually happens. At that point after you turn it off, open the right side cover and look closely between the carriage and printhead cleaners. the printheads should be right over the top of the cleaners and the rubber caps in the cleaners should be in the up position capping the nozzles on the printheads.
If you do not see this, you need to do a service station calibration.
This happend to me one time and my cleaners were running into the printheads.. BANG!!
Carriage to service station relationship-timing was off.
mine looked as if the carriage stopped 1/4" short, to the left of cleaners centerline.
report back, let us know what you find.

To "Meat1820":
First of all, thank you for taking the time to try to help me with my plotter problem. I tried what you said, but when I turned off my printer and opened the "right side cover", the printhead carriage was nowhere near the printhead cleaners. The printhead carriage was all the way over on the far left side of the plotter - right above the ink cartridges. Also, IF I do need to do a "service station calibration", how do I do that?
Thanks again.

first off,,, you can lube the rails with a few drops of light oil on a piece of paper towel and wipe the font and back rails. you don't need the aplicator. I don't think that is going to fix your problem anyway. That video is for a different error - printhead path..
2nd... pay close attention to your error message, it says CLEANER path. the word CLEANER is capitalized to steer you in the right direction which is the service station. The CLEANER path is front to back, not left to right.
you need to do a google search for a service manual for your printer and download the pdf file. This manual will tell you how to get into the srvice utilities of your printer and do the calibrations.
as a matter of fact, the website you watched that video from should have a link to download your service manual.
get your pdf file and come back here, we'll get ya going eventually.

Meat 1820:
I appreciate your patience and reiterate my thanks for your help. You're right (of course) about "CLEANER" being all caps, which I noticed but didn't appreciate the significance. I will try your advice and look for a service manual.
Thanks again.
