The error code you quote is caused by an issue with the encoder strip which is the plastic strip that runs the width of the printer and is imprinted with a grid that a sensor in the carriage (printhead holder) reads to determine where the head is currently located. Might be damaged, dirty or the sensor has failed. Physical inspection to confirm it is in place, secondly clean with a cloth dampened with water with 2 drops of alcohol (too much alcohol will damage the grid printed on the strip. The alcohol is only to help remove any oils that might be on the strip from finger contact) Make sure to use a soft cloth. Clean until the cloth show no signs of ink. If the strip is intact and clean, the next possibility would be a failed sensor.
