Hello, our HP deskjet T230 is giving me the code 0041-0017 there is no parper jammed in it and I have tried to restart the printer several times with no luck.

Error 0041-0017 usually indicates a paper jam, carriage jam, or an obstruction—even if no paper is visibly stuck.

 1. Power Cycle the Printer

Turn off the printer.

Unplug the power cable.

Wait 60 seconds.

Plug the cable back in and power on the printer.

 

2. Check for Obstructions

Open all printer doors and covers.

Look carefully for:

Small torn bits of paper

Foreign objects

Dust buildup

Gently remove any debris you find (do not use sharp tools).

 

3. Inspect the Carriage

Ensure the ink carriage moves freely from left to right.

Gently move it manually:

If it gets stuck → obstruction or carriage rail issue.

Remove anything blocking its path.

 

4. Clean the Printer’s Interior

Use a dry, lint-free cloth.

Clean:

Paper rollers

Carriage path

Input/output tray areas

Do not use liquids.

 

5. Reload the Paper Correctly

Remove all paper from the tray.

Fan the stack to prevent sheets from sticking.

Align and reload the paper neatly in the input tray.

 

6. Update Printer Firmware

Visit the HP Support website for the DeskJet T230.

Check for a firmware update.

If available, download and install following HP’s instructions.
