Finally got the Z5200 broke down . The trailing cables look good but I will be replacing them as well as the

Encoder Strip and Belt. Gonna pull out the Carriage PCA and clean both side with IPA 97%. Left side paper path

looks good and clean but the right side paper path need a good cleaning . Will be taking out the pinch rollers

from right side to middle and give the a good cleaning .Full Bleed Foam right section to be replaced. I gotta get the

part number for the Full Bleed Foam

The only problem I have at present is what is the name of the roller circled in red and what to use to clean it ?

IPA  97% does not even start to clean it . If I don't clean the roller it will be sticking to the finished print and damaging the print. Got to figure out how to remove the roller to.

I couldn't find it in the manual either but did find it here:  https://www.toner2print.com/diagrams/15567/C4699-60042

It's number 11 on the diagram.  Called the "Media Advance Roller" and includes the calibration mark.  Strange that it doesn't show up anywhere in the PDF of the service manual.  Did a PDF search for both the name and the part number and neither showed up.

If you removed the drive roller, is there any chance of doing a deep clean on it instead of replacing?  *EDIT*  Sorry, missed the part of your post about how to clean.  I'm not sure. Maybe try a wet sanding with emory paper or 1200 grit sand paper and some hot water?  I don't  know what the material is the is on the roller so I suppose I'd try some Windex next.  And maybe move on to Dawn detergent if that doesn't work.  Try on a small end section of the roller to see how the material reacts.  (Will it swell if saturated with water?)  That website I referred to appears to sell replacement.  Ebay has nothing right now.  LPS Computers might have one.

Refer to page 311 in the service manual.  They mention a special tool to reinstall the media advance drive motor.  You might be able to do without the tool if you carefully mark the position of the motor assembly before removing.  Last time I used one with the tool was when I replaced the motor assembly and the tool was included with the part.  You can buy the tool seperately but it's $$$.

I would suggest you also check the encoder wheel carefully for contamination also.  I had one that had gotten grease on it from the factory, giving a problem with the advance calibration.  (Check the bottom of the spittoon right above the encoder wheel.)  I have some extra encoder wheels if you need one because when I ordered the wheel, for some reason they sent me 9 of them.  The encoder wheel sensor is trickier to replace because it's matched to that printer.  I recall talking to a tech at LPS and he said something about changing the wiring on the sensor to make it work but turned out I didn't have to replace it so I'm not exactly sure of the specifics.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

I got a closer look at the Media Advance Roller and it has some bad rust on it, but only on the right side  . I may try sandblasting the roller with baking soda to get the rust  off.Or I may just get a used or new Media Advance Roller. I will be removing the pinch rollers and cleaning each one and reinstalling them

As you can see in the attached photo of the Media Advance Roller, the roller is solid with a scuffed up surface

to allow the roller to bite into the back side of the paper and advance the paper

Where is the calibration mark on the Media Advance Roller or is it the disk that is on the left end of the roller ?

I noticed these wires that are cut on the left and right Ink Supply Station.

Is this normal ? Or did someone take an Ink Supply Station from a similar

printer and modify it to fit in the Designjet Z5200 ?

Do you or do you know of anyone that may have a Media Advance Drive Adjustment Tool that they would

let me borrow for a week or so ? I was thinking about using it as a plug to make a silicone rubber mold ,

then I could cast a positive out of hard plastic from the rubber mold .

Do you have a close up of the tool so I can see what it looks like ?

Thanks
