hp t830 error 0009 0201

Hello @lennon32, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it is to encounter HP DesignJet T830 error code 0009-0201, especially when it interrupts scanning and copying tasks.

The HP DesignJet T830 error 0009-0201 typically indicates that the scanner motor is unable to move correctly. This can be caused by a paper jam, debris obstructing the scanner mechanism, dirty rollers, or a mechanical issue within the scanner assembly.

This error generally occurs when the scanner carriage or media drive cannot complete its normal movement during startup or while scanning. In many cases, a simple obstruction or temporary hardware state is responsible, although persistent errors may indicate a scanner hardware fault.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Power Reset

A power reset clears temporary firmware and hardware states that may prevent the scanner from initializing correctly.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.
  5. Turn the printer back on and check whether the error has cleared.

Step 2: Inspect the Scanner Paper Path

Paper fragments or debris can prevent the scanner motor from moving freely.

  1. Open the scanner feeder area.
  2. Carefully inspect the entire paper path for:
    • Torn paper pieces
    • Dust buildup
    • Foreign objects
  3. Remove any obstructions you find, taking care not to damage the scanner components.

Step 3: Check and Clean the Scanner Rollers

Dirty or seized rollers can prevent proper paper movement and trigger scanner errors.

  1. Inspect the scanner feed and pinch rollers.
  2. If they appear dirty, gently clean them using a soft, lint-free cloth.
  3. Ensure the rollers rotate freely before closing the scanner.

Cleaning the rollers helps restore proper paper feeding and reduces resistance that can prevent the scanner motor from operating normally.

If the error was caused by a temporary firmware condition, paper obstruction, or dirty rollers, the scanner should initialize normally after completing the steps above and the 0009-0201 error should disappear.

This information will help determine whether the issue is related to the scanner mechanism or another internal component.

Have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
