Hi @love2021
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand that your Jet printer is printing documents much darker than expected. Dont worry let me check and help you with this .
Could you kindly confirm the below details :
- Whether the dark printing happens with all documents or only specific files.
- Whether you recently replaced the ink cartridges or made any changes to the printer settings.
- A sample photo of the printed page showing the issue.
In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :
- Check Print Quality Settings
- Open the print dialog before printing.
- Go to Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Ensure the paper type matches the paper being used.
- Set print quality to "Normal" instead of "Best" or "Maximum DPI."
- Clean the Printheads
- From the printer control panel or HP Smart/HP App:
- Open Printer Settings.
- Select Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Run the Printhead Cleaning utility.
- From the printer control panel or HP Smart/HP App:
- Check Ink Levels
- Low or faulty cartridges can sometimes affect print quality.
- Verify that all cartridges are genuine HP cartridges and have sufficient ink.
- Print a Quality Diagnostic Report
- Print a printer quality report and check for unusually dark color blocks, streaks, or other print defects.

Based on your description, the printer may be applying too much ink during printing, the print quality settings may be set too high, or the printhead/cartridges may require maintenance. In some cases, an incorrect paper type setting can also cause prints to appear darker because the printer adjusts ink usage based on the selected media type.
I hope this helps.
