I am looking for a working old HP wide-format plotter that works with Mac OS9 and HP/GL-2. My old DesignJet 220 was destroyed in an accident, and I don't want to upgrade my computer and software for many reasons. I've been told the best bets are models 230, 430, 450C/455CA, 700 and 750C Plus. Anyone out there know where I can find one?

Hi  @liloldladyyy

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and I understand to hear about the accident that damaged your DesignJet 220. I can certainly understand why you would want to continue using your existing Mac OS 9 workflow rather than making major changes to your hardware and software setup.

The HP DesignJet 230, 430, 450C/455CA, 700, and 750C Plus are indeed among the legacy HP wide-format plotters that many users have successfully used. Since these models have been discontinued for many years.

Before purchasing a replacement plotter, kindly verify:

  • The exact model number
  • Operational status and print quality
  • Availability of ink cartridges or printheads
  • Supported connectivity options (Serial, Parallel, Ethernet, etc.)
  • HP-GL/2 compatibility
  • Whether the seller can provide a demonstration page or test plot

I hope you're able to find a suitable replacement soon and get your trusted workflow back up and running. If you have questions about compatibility between a specific DesignJet model and your Mac OS 9 setup, kindly share your Mac model and connection type, and we will be happy to provide additional guidance.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
