how do I get a Designjet 500 to accept a non-OEM print cartridge?

Hi @rimb1 .

 

As far as I know that printer doesn't have any setting you can select to use a non HP cartridge, knowing the risk using 3rd party inks I won't recommend you doing that. Is the printer advising you not using it? I would like to know what is the message while installing the ink cartridge.
