Designjet z6100

Have a friend with a Z6100.  Said he was printing something and the carriage just stopped.  Shows a Paper Jam error and 86:01 error.  He says he's certain no paper is in the paper path but can't get the error to clear.  He's blown out the paper path.

I've never seen the machine so I'm trying to help diagnose from across town.  86:01 says it's a scan axis too short.  But manual also says could be an encoder problem or carriage servo problem.  Will probably go over and do a diagnostic test but was wondering if anyone else had a paper jam error code they couldn't clear.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

Thanks Mike.

Ran over and looked at it and turns out the belt has shredded and is jammed in the idler pulley.  I managed to get it unjammed and the carriage moved freely so was able to reboot and the paper jam is gone.  But the belt jammed again so looks like we'll be replacing the belt.

Thanks again for the quick reply!

Hi,

Probably is the belt or the carriage stopper located on the far right.

Could also be the carriage latch.

Best regards
