Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-0000a (4H509AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello community,

I own an HP Victus 15L (TG02-L2 series, Ryzen 7 5700G, Windows 11, 32 GB RAM) and I am experiencing constant audio issues when recording in DAWs (Cubase and FL Studio).

The problem

  • While recording or monitoring in real time, the voice randomly cuts out, drops for a moment, or produces crackling/popping sounds.

  • I also noticed occasional glitches when playing back full audio projects.

  • This does not happen when simply playing music from YouTube or Amazon Music, only inside the DAWs using ASIO drivers.

What I have tried

  • Tested with two different audio interfaces and the issue happens with both:

    • M-Audio AIR 192|14

    • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (3rd Gen)

  • Changed buffer sizes, drivers, and USB cables.

  • Disabled WiFi and Bluetooth during recording.

  • Updated BIOS using HP Support Assistant.

  • Installed the latest chipset and audio drivers.

  • Ran LatencyMon, which reports DPC latency issues related to network drivers and possibly the USB bus.

My suspicion

I believe the issue might be related to DPC latency and Ryzen 7 5700G compatibility in this Victus model, but I would like to confirm:

  1. Are there hidden BIOS settings that could optimize real-time audio performance?

  2. Would migrating to Windows 10 help, since I have read it often shows lower DPC latency compared to Windows 11?

  3. Does HP provide any specific chipset or network drivers that address this audio issue?

Any guidance from the community or HP support would be greatly appreciated.

@Joriel3000, Welcome to the HP Support Community – it’s great to have you here!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your question. I'm more than happy to assist with this and provide a solution that works for you.

Thanks for the detailed post and for listing all the steps you've already tried. You're absolutely right to suspect DPC latency as the root cause, especially since the issue only occurs with ASIO drivers in DAWs like Cubase and FL Studio.

Here’s a structured approach to help resolve the issue:

Update All Drivers from HP Official Sources

Please ensure you're using the latest chipset, audio, and network drivers from HP, not just generic AMD or Realtek versions.

Official HP® Support

Download and install:

  • AMD Chipset Driver
  • Realtek High Definition Audio Driver
  • Realtek LAN Driver
  • BIOS Update (if newer than installed)

Optimize Windows for Low DPC Latency

These tweaks are known to reduce latency spikes:

Switch to High Performance Power Plan

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options
  • Select High Performance

Disable IPv6

  • Go to Network & Sharing Center > Adapter Settings
  • Right-click your active adapter > Properties
  • Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)

Disable USB Selective Suspend

  • Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Advanced settings
  • Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting
  • Set to Disabled

Disable Dynamic Ticking
Run this command in Command Prompt (Admin):

  1. bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

Disable HPET (High Precision Event Timer)
In BIOS (if available) or via Device Manager:

  • Device Manager > System Devices > High Precision Event Timer
  • Right-click > Disable device

BIOS Limitations and Workarounds

HP BIOS on Victus desktops is locked down, and advanced settings like C-State control or USB latency tuning are not exposed. However:

Additional Tools and Monitoring

  • Use LatencyMon to identify offending drivers (you already did, great!)
  • Use Process Lasso to set high priority for audiosrv and AudioEndpointBuilder services
  • Disable unused devices in Device Manager (e.g., onboard audio if using USB interface)

USB Port Selection

Try connecting your audio interface to:

  • Rear USB 2.0 ports (not USB 3.0/3.1)
  • Avoid hubs or front panel ports
  • Use shielded USB cables

You may try,
Moving pagefile to NVMe SSD

Disabling SysMain and SSD indexing

Using ASIO4ALL as a fallback (though not ideal for pro audio)

I hope your issue is now resolved. If not, feel free to reply and we’ll continue helping until everything’s sorted!
