In the last couple of months, I have had an increasing issue with my audio for my headphones (USB bluetooth) and my microphone (Hyper X Quadcast) disconnecting while in game. It only happens in overwatch 2. I have tried updating my bios, all my drivers are current, and I have switched my USB ports. I have also tried switching my power cord, as well as updating my software. Before I updated my bios and my drivers, my mouse and keyboard would also disconnect at times but now I just have the persisting issue with overwatch. Please help me 🙂

Hi @MissZealot
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
It sounds frustrating to deal with audio disconnections during gaming, especially in Overwatch 2. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:
Check In-Game Settings: Ensure that Overwatch 2 is configured to use the correct audio device. Go to the audio settings in the game and verify that your Bluetooth headphones and microphone are selected as the default devices.
Bluetooth Connection: If you're using USB Bluetooth, try the following:
- Reduce Distance: Keep the Bluetooth adapter as close to the headphones as possible.
- Avoid Interference: Make sure there are no other wireless devices nearby that could cause interference.
- Re-pair Devices: Remove the Bluetooth headphones from your device list and re-pair them.
Audio Settings in Windows:
- Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select "Sounds." Check the Playback and Recording tabs to ensure your devices are set as default.
- Under the "Playback" tab, right-click your headphones, select "Properties," go to the "Advanced" tab, and uncheck "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."
Power Management Settings:
- Go to Device Manager, find your USB Bluetooth adapter, right-click and select "Properties." Under the "Power Management" tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
- Also, check the power settings in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, and ensure that USB selective suspend is disabled.
Game Mode and Background Apps: Disable Game Mode in Windows and check if any background applications are causing the issue:
- Go to Settings > Gaming > Game Mode and toggle it off.
- Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for any apps that might be hogging resources and close unnecessary ones.
Reinstall Overwatch 2: If the issue persists, consider reinstalling the game. This can sometimes fix problems caused by corrupted game files.
Test Other Games: Try using your headphones and microphone in other games to determine if the issue is isolated to Overwatch 2 or if it affects other applications as well.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
