Product: HP Chromebook - 14-ca000na

Hi, I am using a HP chromebook 14-ca000na for home music recording.I use Cubasis-3 in app form to record. I need to record external guitar and synth so bought a Behringer UM2 audio interface (USB into chromebook) as told it was compatible with chromebooks. When I try and use it i just get very low audio output with extreme static noise no matter what i try level wise. So I exchanged for better Presonos audiobox interface (recomended for chromebooks if you look up on google) but same thing happens so issue must be chromebook or google sound software. I have been on tech support with HP this afternoon and they believe it is a google based issue. I have now been in touch with google support and they can't help but do believe it is some kind of glitch in software driver?  Does anybody out there use a chromebook for home recording external instruments and if so how?
