HP Envy Move 23.8 inch All-in-One PC ICTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

After a new release of the OS my internal speakers became flaky.  The play for a second, then stop, then play for a second, then stop, etc.  I've tried new drivers but no luck.  I can't go back to the previous release as it's no longer available.   I've resorted to using a Bluetooth speaker but would prefer to us the internal speakers.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Hi @MrBrahms,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy Move 23.8 All-in-One internal speakers are cutting in and out after a Windows 11 update, and driver updates haven’t fixed the issue. Let’s go through troubleshooting steps to try and restore proper audio.

1. Check Audio Output Settings

Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray → Open Sound settings.

Make sure the output device is set to internal speakers.

Disable any secondary outputs (Bluetooth, HDMI audio) temporarily.

2. Disable Audio Enhancements

Go to Sound Control Panel → Playback tab → Internal Speakers → Properties → Enhancements.

Check Disable all enhancements and click Apply.

Sometimes audio enhancements conflict with new OS updates.

3. Update or Roll Back Drivers

Even if you installed new drivers, try rolling back if the option is available:

Right-click Start → Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers.

Select your audio device → Properties → Driver tab → Roll Back Driver (if available).

If not, uninstall the driver and reinstall the latest HP audio driver for Windows 11 from HP Support.

4. Check Audio Services

Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter.

Ensure these services are running:

Windows Audio

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

Restart the services if necessary.

5. Disable Exclusive Mode

Right-click speaker icon → Sound settings → Device properties → Additional device properties → Advanced tab.

Uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.

Apply and test audio playback.

6. Test with HP Hardware Diagnostics

Restart your PC → Press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.

Run the Audio test to verify there’s no hardware issue with the internal speakers.

7. Temporary Workarounds

If none of the above work, you can continue using:

Bluetooth or wired external speakers

USB headphones

I hope this helps.
