Not sure this is the right place to post, but I just purchased a HP 24mp monitor with built-in speakers and can't figure out how to get the audio to work. I connected the green speaker cord to the green in put on the back on the CPU, but there is no sound and using device manager to search for the speaker doesn't pick anything up. This monitor only came with a quick set-up but no manual. Can anyone help me?

I can't find word SPEAKER on its specs. Are you sure it has speakers ?
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06494042
It has following ports
- 1 DisplayPort™ 1.2 (with HDCP support);
- 1 HDMI 1.4 (with HDCP support);
- 1 VGA
If it had speakers, you have to use DP plus sound (DP+) or HDMI port. VGA connection won't give sound UNLESS you have cable for sound separately. What is your computer ? Does it have HDMI port ?
Updates:
OK, I checked another source, it has speakers. I need to know what is your computer. Please watch the following clip:

Thank you. The video was helpful but I couldn't find how he got into the audio. Is there an on-line manual for this monitor? I do much better reading than trying to follow videos.
As I understand you, even though I have the audio cable plugged into the monitor and the back of my computer, it won't work if I'm using the VGA cable? I'll switch to the HDMI and see if that will work.
My computer is a Lenovo running under AMD A10. Operating system - Win 10 64 bit.

Well using digital to connect is much better than analog (which is VGA).
