Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

How do I capture audio, preferable stero, via my USB port and save it in mp3 format for later editing?  I don't know if I need other drivers or not.  If it can't be done via the USB port, then what other options do I have?  I have the Audacity software, but can't seem to capture the input via the USB port.
