So I have a compaq d510. It seems to not want to play certain programs and especially music CDs which I would think would be simple for it to do. Sometimes it can read a disc or sometimes when it reads a disk assesses there's nothing on it.
So far I've done the following I've swapped different drives. I've checked that the drivers are there and they are it seems to recognize the driver and the actual hardware. There seems to be a connecting issue that it doesn't play any sound. I have a Sound blaster Audgy2 zs installed. The sound for the system was working just fine with no issues. The only thing I can think of is I deleted lime wire and some photos and old docs from the previous owner of this machine. I've double checked and got the most up-to-date driver that I could get for the sound card It's on the short form factor so it does make a good connection on the PCI. It's funny it's just that it will play certain programs and not others. Mostly not. I also have Windows 98 partitioned on this drive and it has the same issues but it will play music CDs.
still just don't understand why it isn't working now suddenly. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated 🙂
