Hi!

I hope someone out there may be able to help me with an issue I have with my PC.

On several occasions the PC will make a string of metallic noises through my speakers which last for approximately 5 seconds. After the noise stops the monitor screen turns black & after approximately 20 seconds the screen displays the "No Signal" message. The power button still shows a green light as it does when the PC is on & working BUT there is no display & clicking the mouse or hitting any keep on the keyboard does nothing.

The only way I have been able to restart the PC is by holding the power button in & force shutting the PC down.I can not say if it is a specific thing that is causing the PC to stop responding as I have had it happen when only running 2 programs - EG. Firefox & Winamp, Winamp & Steam. Zoom Player & Firefox, Task Manager & Steam.

I am concerned that I may be causing damage to the PC by continuing to use force shut down when this happens without addressing the cause of the problem.

Any help or advice regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

hi

sometimes it can be video card problem
in any case it is not normal
contact the dealer, or hp directly if you are still under warranty

If no longer the case, see if you have a pci video card, remove it there, connect the monitor to the motherboard, if possible, and test
