HP Pavilion H8-1214
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Pavilion desktop has always had a problem with the fan running constantly, either 30 seconds on/30 seconds off no matter if I'm using it or not, or always on.  It was also going to a blue screen if left unused for a while or when trying to put it to sleep.  To try to solve this, I reset my HP.  Afterward, I began to have problems.  In iTunes, it refused to play any songs unless they were music videos.  The next day it shows that my speakers aren't plugged in.  I tested the speakers, and they work.

I updated Windows 10, checked the audio service and tried the troubleshooter.  Although I hadn't changed anything since the last time the audio worked, I checked my connection, and it's correct as well.  Using dxdiag, I got the result that there is no sound card, but I'm not sure if I should have one or not. I'm looking for ideas about what to try next.  TIA.

Hi:

Your PC's audio is integrated into the motherboard.

It does not have a separate audio card.

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to install this W10 audio driver for the IDT integrated sound system your PC has, and restart the PC.

VERSION: 6.10.6504.0       EFFECTIVE DATE: July 03, 2015

Wow!  That fixed a lot of things in just about a minute.  My speakers are back, iTunes is behaving correctly now, and I even got my previous wallpaper back.  You're my hero.  Thanks so much.
