HP ENVY All-in-One - 27-b245se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy All-in-One-27-b245se.  The right speaker crackles terribly after the computer gets warm.  The speakers are great until the computer gets warm.

Hi  @ECW

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and I understand how concerning this can be, especially when the speakers work well initially and the issue only appears after the computer has been running for some time.

A crackling speaker that develops as the system warms up may be related to audio drivers, thermal conditions, speaker connections, or internal hardware components. I'll be glad to help you with some additional troubleshooting steps.

Kindly try the following:

  1. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics - click here for steps
    • Turn off the computer.
    • Turn it back on and repeatedly tap F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the Audio Component Test and note any error codes displayed.
  2. Test with External Audio Devices
    • Connect headphones or external speakers.
    • Check whether the crackling sound is heard through the external device after the computer warms up.
    • If the issue occurs only on the built-in right speaker, it may indicate a hardware-related concern with the speaker assembly or internal connection.
  3. Check Audio Enhancements
    • Right-click the speaker icon and select Sound Settings.
    • Open the speaker properties and disable any Audio Enhancements or Sound Effects that may be enabled.
    • Test the system again after it has been running for a while.

Since the crackling consistently appears only after the computer warms up, and particularly if it affects only the right speaker, this may require a physical inspection of the speaker assembly, internal wiring, or related hardware components.

I hope this helps .

Thank you for the suggestions.  I ordered new speakers and thought I would put in a new cooling fan at the same time.  However, I have been unsuccessful in finding one, any suggestions.   I have the HP Envy All-In-One 27-b245se model.  I have tried IMPACT, EBAY, AMAZON without success.  (908433-001 is fan number)

Hi @ECW

Thanks for your response and Thank you for the update, and I completely understand your concern. I appreciate the time and effort you've already put in troubleshooting and sourcing the replacement parts.

Since you've been unable to locate the replacement cooling fan through common channels, availability may be limited due to the age of the HP ENVY All-in-One 27-b245se model.

At this point, I would recommend reaching out to an authorized HP Service Center. They can verify part availability and advise whether a compatible replacement fan is available for your system. Additionally, if you're planning to replace the speakers and cooling components together, a technician can inspect the unit to ensure there are no other heat-related hardware concerns contributing to the speaker crackling issue.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I tried external speakers and it worked well, no crackling sound.  So I ordered new speakers and installed them.  It worked fine until the computer ran for sometime and the crackling sound appeared again.  Any suggestions?

Hi @ECW,

Thank you for the update and for testing the replacement speakers.

Since the new speakers work normally when the computer is cold but the same crackling returns after the system warms up, this makes the speakers themselves less likely to be the cause.

Because the issue also occurs with the replacement speakers, I recommend checking the components that control the internal audio system and the thermal condition of the unit.

Please try the following:

Run the HP Audio Component Test

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Turn it on and repeatedly press F2.
  • Run the available audio component test.
  • Note whether it reports any failure.

Test again with headphones/external speakers when the crackling starts.

If external audio remains clear while only the internal speakers crackle, this further isolates the issue to the internal speaker/audio hardware path.

Given the age of the ENVY All-in-One 27-b245se, parts availability may also be limited.

Please let us know the result of the HP Audio Component Test.

Best regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi

Thanks for trying to help.  I've replaced the speakers and tried the trouble shooting suggestions without success. I've had the computer apart and checked for loose connections. I'm using external speakers and they work fine.  Only once have i had a blue screen that warmed of over heating.
