Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My HP Desktop 24-ca2xx - External Bose speakers  have suddenly stopped working, internal speakers continue to work OK.

The Ext speakers work fine when connected to another computer.

Have carried out all available diagnostic checks on HP Support Assistant and Windows 11, etc. without success.

iTunes also recognises there is a problem with audio and says song may not play properly.

 Many thanks

Hi @David4462,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding PC's connectivity with speakers!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check Physical Connections

  • Ensure the speaker cable is firmly plugged into the correct audio jack (green port).
  • If using USB or Bluetooth speakers, reconnect them.

2. Set Bose Speakers as Default Audio Output

  • Right-click the Speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound settings.
  • Under Output, select Bose speakers as the default device.

3. Test Another Audio Port

  • If using a 3.5mm jack, try a different audio port on your PC.
  • If using USB speakers, try a different USB port.

4. Restart the Audio Service

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Windows Audio, right-click → Restart.

5. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
  • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Right-click your audio device → Update driver → Search automatically.
  • If the issue persists, Uninstall the driver, restart the PC, and let Windows reinstall it.

6. Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter.

If the issue persists, try connecting another external speaker to your PC to check if the problem is with the port or software. 🚀
