Hi @jackslone ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've tried various troubleshooting steps and still experiencing very low sound from your external speakers on your HP Slimline Desktop,

Here are some additional suggestions you could try:

  • Check Speaker Volume Control: Ensure that the volume control on your external speakers is turned up. Some speakers have their own volume control knob or buttons separate from the computer's volume controls.
  • Test with Different Speakers: If possible, try using a different set of speakers or headphones to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the speakers themselves or with the computer.
  • Update Audio Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, locating the audio device, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Update driver."
  • Check Sound Settings: Go to the sound settings in Windows by right-clicking on the volume icon in the taskbar and selecting "Open Sound settings." Check if the correct output device (your external speakers) is selected and ensure that the volume is turned up.
  • Disable Audio Enhancements: Sometimes, audio enhancements or effects can cause issues with volume levels. In the Sound settings, go to the "Sound Control Panel," select your playback device, go to the "Enhancements" tab, and check "Disable all enhancements" if it's available.
  • Check for Software Issues: Sometimes, background software or applications can interfere with audio output. Try closing all unnecessary applications and processes and see if that improves the volume level.
  • Check for Loose Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected to both your computer and the speakers. Sometimes loose connections can cause issues with sound output.
  • Check Power Source: If your speakers require a separate power source (e.g., a power adapter), make sure they are plugged in and turned on.
  • Try Different Audio Ports: If your computer has multiple audio output ports, try plugging the speakers into a different port to see if that makes a difference.
  • Test with Different Audio Source: Try playing audio from a different source (e.g., YouTube, local music files) to see if the issue is specific to certain applications or files.

I hope this helps.
