Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a user with an HP Elitedesk 800 G4 who is getting the infamous 'failed to create Conexant Audio Factory,The SmartAudio will now exit' error every 3-5 minutes. The problem is that literally every search result I have found begins with 'go into device manager and uninstall then reinstall the Conexant device', and when I go into device manager THERE IS NO CONEXANT DEVICE LISTED. There's a Synaptics HD Audio device listed- that's it. Uninstalling that and reinstalling it doesn't work.

Neither does restarting the Conexant service and rebooting the machine. We tried that last night. Error still happening this morning.

Neither does going to the HP website and downloading the latest drivers for this computer, because when I had the HP site do a hardware detection and recommend drivers, it offered me the Synaptics drivers again. No mention of Conexant anywhere. When I try to get a download manually, mostly what I get is writeups ABOUT the Conexant driver for the Elitedesk, but I haven't been able to get a link to this driver for download.

Every set of instructions I have found on the web has said 'uninstall a thing that you don't have, then reinstall the thing that you didn't have, and then if that doesn't work go and download a driver that your machine's manufacturers won't give you, otherwise it's probably your antivirus software, goodbye'. What am I supposed to do?

I just attempted to open a chat with HP about this issue and got 'the service is not available'. I am waiting on a response about opening a ticket as well. I do not know how I am supposed to make this user's machine stop pestering him every few minutes.

After some searching I found an HP document that said 'the Synaptics (previously Conexant) Sound Device Driver'. At the next opportunity I will try to uninstall the Synaptics device entirely and then reinstall it with a newly downloaded driver, but I am still put off by the fact that I get 'the service is not available' when I try to open a chat.
